The third step is to support each and every student in overcoming obstacles. To do this, Student Reach provides students with materials, assistance, and encouragement continuously and constantly. Students will feel as if they have their own support system of social activists, and they will have access to a behind-the-scenes look at how Student Reach itself was started.
We then encourage each student to question standards, to raise the bar, and to challenge societal norms. We encourage students to make a lasting positive change in the world. To do so, we have them analyze what methods work best in making change, and how best to overcome obstacles such as time management. Activities in Reaching Beyond tend to be catered most of all three towards the specific group that Student Reach is working with.
Students may find that in the process of Reaching Out, there are various obstacles that stand in their way, and these obstacles may arise from the very society we live in. In a group, students will make a list of obstacles they foresee for themselves and their peers.
Student Reach will show the students how these obstacles can be overcome and how important accessing our government is in that respect. They will be given sample petitions, letters to Members of Parliament and the resources they need to create change. In this activity, students will also have the chance to support other youth from across the country in their efforts to Reach Beyond.
